Why You Should Totally Backup Your Work Computer Post-COVID

Pre-COVID, when I'd speak with my coworkers, the concept of backing up their computer was a fleeting thing, or something they'd only ever do every once and a while-- or, they'd only back up documents they deemed most important. Since I've taken a remote-work role, I've come to realize the importance of having a recent backup of my work computer (and how inexpensively I can do it) when my company's technical support team is quite literally hundreds of miles away. Before this existence most of us are in now of rolling out of bed, grabbing a cup of coffee, and starting the day, there was this sense of togetherness that being at an office brought. Included in that feeling was the peace of mind that should anything go wrong, the technical support team would be (quite literally) right down the hall. Sometimes our computers fail to boot, we spill something on them, the operating system becomes corrupted and it needs a restore. The bottom line is simply that we never ex...

Is the iPod Touch still worth it in 2021?

The iPod Touch has been largely unchanged since the 5th generation which was released way back in 2014. Since then, it's been minor changes including a slightly better camera, processor, and the like. We are now onto the 7th generation of this infamous device-- the sole remaining device in the iPod lineup. So, why's it still around? And is it worth picking up in 2021? Most consumers have come to the conclusion that the only reason this thing still exists is that it's a great device for kids. Heck, it is even tucked away on the Music page on Apple's website. Alas, when parents don't want to hand their kids an iPhone worth a few hundred bucks, the iPod Touch at its entry price-point of $200 is a great choice. But then there's people like me. My entire life I pretty much store on my iPhone. My Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter feeds are always out for my attention. I can't escape work after hours it seems. Slack and email are always a tap away. Sometimes I just ...

Notable new features in iOS 14.4 and iPad OS 14.4

Released today,  iOS and iPad OS 14.4 have a few new features and bug fixes.  The good news is, with a download size of just under 400mb, the install is quite quick, too. Here's a rundown of new features worth noting: 1:  A notification that show up if a non-genuine camera is installed. 2:  Select what type of device just got paired to your device in Bluetooth settings. 3:  A new, small UI that applies for Homepod Mini near the top of your display along with haptics when transferring audio to it. 4:  Overall better QR code recognition. Why bother updating? As always, security. Secondly, these enhancements are great in a post-COVID world. Every new release since the dawn of the iPhone itself has come with reinforcements to security, and as we know-- Apple takes privacy very seriously. That alone is worth the few minutes of downtime to update. In addition, 14.4 introduces overall better QR code reading functionality. It seems like every restaurant I've visite...
